New Year, New Look

Since founding Henning in 2020, I’ve been driven by a powerful vision: to assemble a team that would tackle the deep-rooted challenges in our homeless response system. In the past four years, that vision has blossomed into tangible success. Our very first project, launched in May 2022, provided stable housing for 80 Alaskans at the Aviator Hotel. Then, in June 2022, two key team members—my now Deputy Executive Director, Crystal Abbott, and my current Operations Manager, Sarah Hall-Wright—joined our efforts. Together, we distributed $900,000 in emergency rental assistance, reaching over 100 Alaskans in need.

Since then, Henning has made a lasting impact, becoming the largest homeless services provider in the Municipality of Anchorage. We've expanded our footprint by purchasing the former Henry House and the Marx Brothers Cafe, and have launched a workforce development program to help individuals build careers and find stability. Additionally, we established a supplemental nutrition program to support Title One elementary schools, ensuring that children from low-income families have access to healthy meals. Our tireless efforts were recognized last year when Henning was named Non-Profit of the Year—a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.

We’ve accomplished so much in just a few short years, but the journey is far from over. As we continue to evolve, we remain deeply committed to our mission of addressing the complex needs of our community, and we're excited for all that the future holds.

New Year, New Look

Have you noticed our fresh new look? This is more than just a new design—it marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Henning Inc. It’s a reflection of the progress we’ve made, the growth we’ve experienced, and the bold step forward we’re taking as we continue to serve Anchorage.

Our new logo symbolizes the foundation of our work: the peer support and lived experience model that is at the heart of everything we do. The circle of leaves represents the cycle of transformation and continued growth, both for the individuals we serve and for our organization as a whole. This updated look embodies our ongoing commitment to meaningful change, strength through community, and the power of lived experience in shaping the future.

It represents our dedication to continuous progress, stronger community connections, and a shared commitment to building a brighter future. We are eager to share these changes with you and look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead. As we embrace new opportunities and reach new heights, we are excited to continue this journey side by side with you. Here’s to the next chapter, and to the transformative work still to come!

Ready for Take Off

Rocket Fuel ignited last September at Fairview Elementary with just 50 students, and since then, the program has truly taken off, now fueling the future of 300 students across six elementary schools. This program has reached new heights, providing essential meals to students from low-income families, ensuring they’re energized for success and ready to soar. Each meal acts like rocket propellant, fueling students with the energy they need to thrive in the classroom. Just as a rocket’s trajectory is carefully mapped, Rocket Fuel delivers consistency and reliability, making sure no student is left behind. Together, we are propelling a brighter future for Anchorage, one meal at a time, and driving our community toward greater success.

We’d love for you to join us at the open house of Rocket Fuel’s launch pad at 4101 Arctic Blvd #206-D, next Friday, January 17th, from 4-6 pm, to learn more about how we’re fueling our future.

Walking towards a brighter future,
